ND conference features celebrity designer, best-selling author
JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Celebrity designer Taniya Nayak and best-selling author Julie Powell will be here in September for the 3rd annual WILD (Women in Leadership Development) Conference.
Nayak hosts HGTV’s “House Hunters on Vacation” and the Food Network’s “Restaurant Impossible.” She will share center stage Sept. 18, with Powell, who wrote the book, “Julie & Julia,” which was later turned into a movie. Powell cooked all 524 recipes of Julia Child’s Mastering the Art of French Cooking in a year and then wrote about her experience.
The conference, put on by the North Dakota Farmers Union, will be held Sept. 17 and 18. The event’s theme is “It’s a Flippin’ Good Life.” The conference goal is to focus on the inner and outer core of women, said Chelsey Thronson, Farmers Union staff member and conference leader.
“We hope this conference will provide the inspiration that women need to make a flip in their lives for the good,” she said.
The conference kicks off Sept. 17 with a Ladies Night celebration. Participants are encouraged to bring a gently-used business attire item to donate to Dress for Success, which helps promote the economic independence for disadvantaged women.
The conference costs $99 to attend and is open to all women. Register online at www.ndfu.org/wild.
The first 150 women to register will be entered into a random drawing for three personal makeovers from the Jamestown-based Layered salon and virtual room design tips from Nayak.
