ND mayor race ends in a tie, with 28 votes a piece

HANNAFORD, N.D. -- Hannaford’s mayoral race appears to be a tie.

Complete but unofficial results showed candidates Debra Dahl and Russell Fliflet won 28 votes, or 48.28 percent, each in Tuesday’s primary election.

“As of right now, it is a tie,”  said Lori Eggermont, deputy auditor for Griggs County.

There are 158 registered voters in the city of Hannaford, which is about 30 miles northwest of Valley City, Eggermont said.

The Griggs County canvassing board will determine the winner Monday by counting all the absentee ballots that were postmarked for Tuesday, some of which are still coming in by mail, Eggermont said.
