House of man who killed Fargo police officer demolished
FARGO—A demolition crew made quick work Friday morning, March 3, of the former home of Marcus Schumacher, a Fargo man who killed himself in February 2016 after shooting and killing a Fargo police officer.
The home at 308 9th Ave. N. was torn down to make way for a Habitat for Humanity Project.
During a standoff off with police, Schumacher shot and killed officer Jason Moszer, who along with other officers had responded to a domestic disturbance call at the Schumacher home.
The city purchased the home from Schumacher's family for $12,000. A city spokesman said demolition was chosen because the cost would have been prohibitive to clean up the house, which was subjected to tear gas during the standoff.
Lake Agassiz Habitat for Humanity has plans to build a single-family home on the cleared lot.
