Local Dairy Queen giving away cones to support boy with heart condition
MOORHEAD—Moorhead's hometown Dairy Queen on Main Avenue and Eighth Street is giving away cones for a good cause.
The soft-serve staple is taking part in National Free Cone Day to celebrate the beginning of spring.
They're asking cone lovers to open their hearts to the family of young Max Zinter.
Max was born with a serious heart condition, forcing him to undergo numerous surgeries.
Dairy Queen is asking customers to give the cost of a cone to Max's family in lieu of paying for it.
The store's owner is amazed how receptive customers have been.
"Incredible the power of our positive community we live in, and the power of putting fundraising and ice cream together," said owner Diane Deleon.
The Moorhead Dairy Queen has previously held similar fundraisers for other local families.
