Man charged with fleeing scene after crashing into house
EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. — A Grand Forks man is facing criminal charges after police say he crashed into an East Grand Forks home and fled the scene early Monday morning.
Jason Poellot, 32, has been charged with reckless driving and fleeing the scene of an accident, according to the East Grand Forks Police Department.
First responders were called to 2143 Seventh Ave. N.W. at 12:54 a.m. Monday after receiving reports a vehicle had struck a home.
Officers found a Ford Five Hundred sedan had veered off the road, destroyed a garden shed and crashed into a the house, entering the basement. The driver was nowhere to be found.
Police located Poellot in an apartment across the street from the crash, interviewed him and placed him under arrest at about 3:30 a.m. Monday.
No one was injured in the incident, police say, and alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
