Man arrested after lockdown at Valley City High School

VALLEY CITY, N.D. — A 20-year-old man was arrested Wednesday, Sept. 13, after reportedly trying to sneak into a college career day at Valley City High School, prompting a temporary lockdown of the school.

According to a report released by Valley City police:

A man tried to enter the high school and was turned away after being told the college career day was for students and faculty of area schools.

The man was later seen entering the school through a different door, and police searched the school while school staff initiated a lockdown.

The intruder was found a short time later and was taken into custody on suspicion of criminal trespass and disorderly conduct.

Police identified the man as Lucas Bergenheier, 20, of Valley City.
