Texas man dies in semi crash near Killdeer

KILLDEER, N.D. – One man is dead after a head-on collision just west of here.

According to a release from the North Dakota Highway Patrol, a 34-year-old man from Abilene, Texas, driving a 1996 Chevy Blazer hit a 2009 Peterbilt truck pulling a tanker around 9:42 p.m., Sunday.

The driver of the Blazer was traveling east on Highway 200 when he pulled across the center lane and struck the semi. The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from his vehicle and pronounced dead on site. The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of family.

The driver of the Peterbilt, 44-year-old Russel Ware of Blackfoot, Mont., was wearing his seat belt and wasn’t injured.
