Clitherall woman injured when car crashes into tree

ASHBY, Minn. - A Clitherall, Minn., woman was injured when the car she was driving slid off a snow and ice-covered Highway 78 and struck a tree near here Wednesday evening, Jan. 31, the Minnesota State Patrol reported.

Amanda Kristine Lukken, 19, was driving a 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis north on Highway 78 near 355th Avenue in Douglas County about 5:02 p.m. when the vehicle left the road and struck a tree, the Patrol reported.

Lukken was transported to Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls, Minn., for treatment, the Patrol reported.

A passenger in the car, Elise Jean Carlson, 19, of Battle Lake, Minn., did not appear to be injured, the report said.

The Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office assisted at the scene of the crash, the report said.
