Landing gear problem to blame for plane sliding off Fargo runway
FARGO – A landing gear issue caused a small plane to slide off a runway at Fargo’s Hector International Airport Wednesday, Feb. 7.
Shawn Dobberstein, executive director of the Fargo Airport Authority, said a single-engine Piper Comanche was landing at the airport about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday when part of its landing gear collapsed.
“They just skidded off to the side of the runway,” he said.
Dobberstein said neither of the two occupants in the plane were hurt in the incident, which ended with the plane sliding onto the snow and grass off the runway.
Local representatives of the Federal Aviation Administration inspected the airplane Thursday morning, Feb. 8, Dobberstein said.
