Pickup driver dies in I-94 crash with semi in Otter Tail County
DALTON, Minn. — The driver of a pickup died after his vehicle was rear-ended by a semi on Interstate 94 early Friday morning, April 27, at the Hansel Lake Rest Area in Otter Tail County, the Minnesota State Patrol reported.
The unnamed pickup driver was westbound on I-94 at about 5:41 a.m. when his vehicle was rear-ended by a westbound semi driven by Dean Thomas Hedburg, 33, of Rockville, Minn., the State Patrol reported.
Both vehicles left the roadway and entered the Hansel Lake Rest Area, the report said. The pickup driver died at the scene of his injuries, the report said.
Hedburg was taken by ambulance to Lake Region Healthcare in Fergus Falls for treatment of injuries that weren't life-threatening, the report said.
Road conditions were dry at the time of the crash, the report said.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
