Arron Dean Jagol, Fertile, Minn. (Tri County Corrections Center, Polk County, Minn., Feb. 27, 2018)

FERTILE, Minn. – A suspect in an early-morning high-speed chase that topped 100 mph was arrested after his vehicle went into a ditch in Norman County, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office reported Tuesday, Feb. 27.

Aaron Dean Jagol, 27, of Fertile, was arrested and faces several charges in connection with the incident, which started about 2:45 a.m. Tuesday, according to the sheriff’s office report.

Polk County deputies tried to stop a vehicle driven by a suspect in a domestic assault that was reported earlier. Deputies were also told the driver was intoxicated, the report said.

The stop was attempted on 120th Avenue Southwest near Fertile, the report said. A pursuit ensued, with speeds at first between 30 and 40 mph, but as the vehicle continued west of Fertile and eventually south into Norman County, it accelerated to speeds topping 100 mph.

The pursuit lasted about 8 miles and was ended due to fog and icy roads, the report said.

Jagol and the vehicle were found soon after by a Norman County deputy. The vehicle was stuck in a ditch about 4 miles south of where the pursuit ended, the report said.

Jagol was charged with fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, DWI, domestic assault, interfering with emergency communications, open bottle and possession of drug paraphernalia, the report said.

Jagol is being held at Tri-County Community Corrections in Crookston awaiting an appearance in Polk County District Court, a jail staffer said Wednesday, Feb. 28.

The Ada Police Department also assisted in the case.
