Man charged with murder in death of 5-month-old

Mason Kamrowski

GRAND FORKS — An 18-year-old Grand Forks man has been charged with murder following an investigation into the death of a five-month-old baby in May.

Mason Kamrowski, 18, of Grand Forks, was charged with murder, a Class AA felony, on Friday, Sept. 7. Kamrowski was taken into custody Friday and is currently incarcerated in the Grand Forks County Correctional Center.

The final autopsy report from the Grand Forks County Coroner’s Office on the death of five-month-old Brynley Rymer listed the manner of death as homicide, according to a news release from the Grand Forks Police Department.

On May 21, the baby was brought to Altru by a caretaker after she stopped breathing. She was ultimately transferred to Sanford Medical Center in Fargo for further treatment. The baby died on May 22.

Sgt. Michael Jennings, with the department’s Criminal Investigations Bureau, declined to release any further information about the cause of death or the injuries the baby sustained in the incident.

Jennings said Kamrowski was in a relationship with the baby’s mother, but was not the father of the child.

There are no additional suspects in the case at this time, Jennings said.

Police said that although charges have been filed the case is still an active and ongoing investigation.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Grand Forks Police Department.
