Fargo custom winery Uncorked closing for good this weekend
FARGO—A custom winery is closing for good on Saturday, June 24, after 15 years in business.
Owner Kathy Swiontek, who took over the former Vintner's Cellar franchise in 2010 and renamed it Uncorked in 2011, said she's in her final week of operation at the custom winery that first opened in Fargo in 2002.
She announced this spring that she would close the business if she couldn't sell it, and she said she wasn't able to find a buyer.
"It's bittersweet," she said. "I've worked really hard in this business, but i am looking forward to what life brings me next."
Swiontek said the winery, 1700 32nd Ave. S., was open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, June 23, and is scheduled to be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. But she'll keep the doors open a bit longer Saturday if customers are still there, she said.
Uncorked is now selling off all remaining inventory, winemaking supplies and bottles at discounted prices.
Swiontek said she'll spend next week clearing out and cleaning the leased space because she'll need to be entirely out by Friday, June 30.
