Sioux City scores a dozen in the ninth inning to cruise past RedHawks
FARGO—Sioux City scored 12 runs in the ninth inning en route to a 19-5 victory over the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks Tuesday in American Association baseball at Newman Outdoor Field in front of 3,032 fans.
Jose Sermo went 3-for-5 with with four runs and six RBIs, including a ninth-inning grand slam to lead Sioux City. Dexture McCall and Dean Green each tallied two RBIs, while Dylan Kelly drove in three runs.
Maikol Gonzalez went 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI to lead the RedHawks, while Tim Colwell and Leo Pina each drove in a run.
RedHawks starter Will Solomon (9-7) gave up six earned runs on nine hits with two walks and two strikeouts through five innings to record the loss.
Sioux City rose to 64-23 overall, while the RedHawks fell to 47-39 overall.
