Laurie Lee Greene

Laurie Lee Greene, 59, of Havana, ND passed away on May 15, 2017 at Sanford Health Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Laurie was born on January 1, 1958 in St. Paul, MN to Lawrence Edward Knoch and JoAnn Mary (Falk) Knoch. She graduated from Tartan High School in 1976. On January 15, 1979, Laurie was united in marriage to Richard John McKinney in Watertown, MN. They had two children together, Michael & Shawna, and spent 17 years with each other.

Laurie met Craig Miller Greene in 1997, and they were united in marriage on July 21, 2000 in Las Vegas, NV. They spent 20 years together.

Laurie worked at Channels 2 and 17 Public Television for over 15 years as a mailroom supervisor. She also worked for Northwest Airlines; she loved to travel and enjoyed working there very much. Later in life she owned a restaurant, Farmers Inn Caf, in Havana, ND. Laurie and Shawna ran the restaurant until she was diagnosed with cancer.

Laurie passed away peacefully in her sleep with her husband at her side, after a long 7 year battle with breast cancer.

Laurie had such a witty sense of humor and could always make anyone laugh. Laurie enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and had a love for animals, especially her dogs- they always made her so happy. She also enjoyed traveling, watching NASCAR, going to casinos, eating out with friends and family and never missed an episode of Young & the Restless. Laurie had a heart of gold and was a very giving person too; she always had good advice to give to everyone and often thought of others before herself. Her family was her life and her strength and she will be long remembered for her loving heart and giving personality.

Laurie loved the lights of Las Vegas, camping, watching her kids grow up, sightseeing in the mountains, exploring the west, and playing video poker. She developed a special fondness for the Florida coast while recuperating from chemotherapy, and had hoped to retire in Florida. The time she spent there gave her great peace.

Laurie is survived by her husband, Craig Greene; her children, Michael (Brooke) McKinney, Shawna (Nathan) Bergh; step-daughter, Sarah (Brett) Ballinger; grandchildren, Jackie, Cora, Autumn, Traeden, Marshall, Zack and Sara; step-father, Bud Converse; sister, Kathy Knoch; brother, Ted (Anne) Falk; nephew, Jon Falk, along with many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Knoch and her mother, JoAnn (Falk) Converse.

Memorial Services will be held at 1pm on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Nordland Lutheran Church in Rutland, ND.
