Paul Tellefson, 79, passed away at Sanford Hospital on Friday, April 13, 2018 surrounded by his family.
Born on June 9, 1938 in Albert Lea, MN to Clarence and Alice (Nelson) Tellefson. He grew up on a farm near Frost, Minnesota. In 1952, his parents moved to Clinton, MN where he graduated from high school. He married Ramona Weinman, his high school sweetheart on September 7, 1958. When he graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1960, they moved to Moorhead where he was employed by 1st National Bank until 1973, when he and a local group acquired The State Bank of Hawley where he was President and CEO until his retirement in 2009.
He was very active in the Hawley community including Secretary-Treasurer of Hawley Business Development Corporation, Hawley Lutheran Church where he served as Treasurer, Council Member and President, member and Director of the Hawley Golf Club, member and President of Hawley Area Lions Club and served on the Board of Directors of the Minnesota Bankers Association.
Paul enjoyed playing golf, watching sports, traveling, being at the lake and spending time with family.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ramona, son Bruce (Lori), Fargo, daughter Susan (Bruce) Corneliussen, Andover, MN, son Mark (Julie), Hawley, grandchildren: Logan Tellefson, Lindsey (Matt) Sandbeck, Amanda and Kayla Corneliussen, Alan and Colton Tellefson, sisters, Ann Bruellman, Gaylord, MN and Kathy (Dave) Frank, Blue Earth, MN and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Alice Tellefson, brother-in-law, Gerald Weinman, sister-in-law, Juanita Moberg, brother-in-law Roger Bruellman and nephew, Douglas Weinman.
Visitation: Friday, April 20, 2018 from 5-7 PM at Wright Funeral Home, Hawley, MN.
Memorial Service: Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Hawley Lutheran Church, Hawley, MN.
