Jenkins: Changes ahead for the Celebration of Women and Their Music

Deb Jenkins founded the Celebration of Women and Their Music in 1998 as a way to give back to the community. Now the event has a big impact on local female musicians. Darren Gibbins / The Forum

For 20 years, our annual Celebration of Women and their Music has pursued a mission "to recognize artistic passion in women and create opportunities for emerging and established artists by creating avenues for networking, nurturing, support and promotion of their individual talents."

Over the past two years, audience numbers have declined, but our passion for and belief in our core mission remains strong. Our past award winners continue to remind us of the significant impact of this award on their musical and personal development.

In an attempt to re-ignite a collective community passion for our celebration and recognition of talented women musicians, we are moving the performance from the beautiful Fargo Theatre to a more intimate community venue—the FM Community Theatre's Stage at Island Park.

Our 21st Celebration of Women and their Music will be held Jan. 20. This year's performers will include Brenda Weiler, Haley Rydell, Rosemary Sauvageau Nestingen, Laura Jossund, Emily Holt and Karen Atwood, in addition to our award winners.

Please join us to celebrate and support women and their music.
