Letter: Enjoyed article about Squeaky

I enjoyed the article in the June 1 Forum about Squeaky Sherman.

One of my part-time jobs while attending Concordia was at the Bluebird Café. Owners at that time were Peterson and Benson. It was one of the better casual eating places.

I can still recall Squeaky entering and looking for his private perch – a stool next to the table clearing cart. He had an eye for anything edible and reachable – hoping that someone didn’t have a doggie bag so would leave the uneaten food.

I also recall that due to food rationing, the café had some Sundays when they closed early because they were out of essential items.
