Letter: A study of air ambulance usage is needed
I noted the story on curbing the costs of some air ambulance trips in The Forum April 20th. For some time I have been aware of both the excessive fees for this type of service and the excessive use of it. When properly used, it helps to save lives. When improperly used, it helps boost some outfit's bottom line.
Which leads me to my own observation locally: medical helicopters go over our north Fargo house multiple times every day and night. It would be interesting to read a Forum investigative report on the costs and types of uses the local air ambulance services provide. Are they invaluable, life-saving resources for our community? Or are they cash cows for their owners? Some of both? Will we ever know?
