Letter: Voters ignored substance and opted for a feel-good fix
Donald Trump was elected president by the voter who wanted not a plain president, but one topped with extras. Whether you eat in or dine out no one likes a plain baked potato. We need lots of butter and sour cream. A plain piece of toast requires your favorite jam and butter. A pancake needs syrup and balls of butter, and plain vanilla ice cream is always better with chocolate, caramel, sprinkles, and nuts. You see, it doesn't take much thinking to order these things with the extras. When Trump first arrived on the scene he was plain until he opened his mouth. The voter was looking for extras and Trump delivered with sugar and spice and everything nice.
There is not much thought process in ordering the foods you like and the voter applied that same concept in ordering a president. Just like food, the voter ignored substance and opted for a feel good fix.
