Letter: Please, put your cart back where it belongs
I just attempted to rub out a scuff on the rear fender of my car caused by a rolling shopping cart the wind blew into it because it wasn't put in an appropriate cart corral. It never ceases to amaze me how everywhere I shop the parking lots are riddled with abandoned shopping carts. I simply cannot believe there are really so many lazy, inconsiderate people.
Carts are supplied by retail establishments at no charge for the convenience of their shoppers. They even provide designated cart corrals where carts are to be left to be collected by an employee. They, in turn, are rewarded by having their carts left anywhere and everywhere. These carts become destructive objects when it is windy and they are blown into cars causing damage. Such was the case with me.
There are also times when carts have been left, or blown, into legitimate parking spaces, making them unusable unless you get out of your vehicle, move the cart, get back in and then park your car.
The next time you shop and load your purchases into your car, please place your cart in an appropriate cart corral. Then feel good about yourself because you have done what normal, good people do. The world would be a better place if everyone would just do their part and be a little more responsible and considerate of each other.
Thank you in advance.
