Letter: Men have built this country. Women have always been their partners.
I have not always agreed with Shaun Moser on his opinions, but I do agree that intuitively Americans know who their protectors are during war. (Moser column published Dec. 29) Not that our brave women who support them are any less valuable, but by virtue of their sex, they can not compete physically with men, nor should they.
We have been assigned very specific roles, nothing new there. Whenever we turn on the History Channel, we see men at war with one another. Men have won our wars. It's the truth, nothing archaic about it. Men have built this country. Women have always been their partners. Women and children are why men do what they do.
Whenever I see men climbing poles in frigid weather to keep the electricity on, or swinging from high beams to build shelters, or leaning over cliffs on large machinery to repair roads, I thank a higher being than myself for the men in my life.
