Letter: Is this the level of political discourse we want in North Dakota?
The Jan. 3 story about Minot Republican Rep. Roscoe Streyle using the insult "libtard" misses the big picture. While that insult is unacceptable and insulting to the disabled, as stated in the article, this narrow focus misses an equally important issue. Why is it acceptable for an elected representative to insult his constituents at all, using any language?
Is this really how far we have fallen as a society? Is this the level of political discourse we want in North Dakota? Don't we deserve representatives who listen to diverse views and search for solutions, instead of dismissing the people who pay his salary with the tact of a common Facebook troll?
