MOORHEAD – Moorhead athletic director Dean Haugo confirmed Wednesday, March 23, that head boys basketball coach Corey Zimmerman has resigned.

Zimmerman was 103-79 in seven seasons with Moorhead with one section championship. The Spuds are coming off a 4-22 season.

Zimmerman would not comment on why he was resigning, directing all questions to Haugo.

"Corey just made the decision to resign," Haugo said. "It's just that. Nothing more. Nothing less."

Prior to being named Moorhead head coach, after Chuck Gulsvig stepped down after 27 years, Zimmerman was a junior varsity coach at Moorhead for nine seasons. His only prior head coaching experience was one season in Wickenburg, Ariz., leading the girls basketball team to a state tournament.

Kristin Dehmer—executive director of human resources at Moorhead Area Public Schools—said there is no existence of complaints or charges or a final disposition of discipline in Zimmerman's personnel file.
