Courtney Walsh

West Fargo hockey

West Fargo junior Courtney Walsh had hat tricks on back-to-back nights last Friday and Saturday. She had three goals and an assist in a 6-3 win over Minot and followed it up with three goals and an assist in a 6-0 win over Williston.

"Courtney works extremely hard, and hard work pays off," West Fargo coach Pat Johnson said.

Walsh leads the 8-5 Packers in scoring this season.

Siman Sem

Fargo North basketball

Siman Sem scored the 1,000th point of his career last Friday and followed that up with a 45-point, 21-rebound performance on Monday, breaking his previous record for points in a game. He also had six assists, six steals, three blocks and hit all but two of his 19 free-throw attempts in the game.

"I think the most impressive part of Siman's performance was we knew he was scoring, but we don't have scoreboards that track points, so we couldn't tell how much," North coach Ted Critchley said. "I had no idea. The manner and the moments he was able to put the basketball in the basket was the most impressive. He didn't do it with a lot of shots."
