FM softball hall of fame to induct four new members
FARGO—Four new members will be inducted into the Fargo-Moorhead Area Softball Hall of Fame during a 5 p.m. ceremony, Friday, Aug. 11, at Fargo's Northside Softball Complex in conjunction with the NAFA National Fastpitch Tournament.
The new inductees are Mike Lien, Joseph Olivieri, Brian Rahman and Karin Schumacher.
Lien played softball in Fargo for 20 years for teams including Asp Construction, Stonegate Kennels and A-1 Auto Glass. Lien was a softball umpire for 40 years working numerous state, regional and national tournaments.
Olivieri played fastpitch softball for more than 25 years for teams including Venice Gardens and Silver Star. He coached and sponsored numerous teams including Josef's, LaCasa Lounge and Josef's Gregy for more than 30 years.
Rahman played fastpitch softball as a standout pitcher for 23 years for teams including EDSR, Josef's Grey, Rooters, Kegel Sign, Kegel Black Knights, DMS and Bergstrom Eye and Laser Clinic.
Schumacher played fastpitch softball for 20 years for teams including Nodak, Fargo Air Guard, Idso Sales and slowpitch softball for three years with Harley Davidson. Schumacher, who coached softball at Moorhead High School and played at Minnesota State-Moorhead, played on 10 state championship teams and in two national tournaments.
