Volkert helps lead Dragons women to victory in NSIC opener

BISMARCK—Jacky Volkert scored a team-high 24 points and added five assists to help lead Minnesota State Moorhead to a 64-54 victory against the University of Mary on Friday night in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference women's basketball at McDowell Activity Center.

The game was the conference opener for the Dragons (4-1, 1-0 NSIC) as they have won four consecutive games.

A junior guard, Volkert shot 50 percent (8-for-16) from the floor and also made 7 of 7 free throws in 36 minutes. Sophomore forward Megan Hintz added 12 points for the Dragons, while freshman guard Kiley Borowicz had 10 points off the bench.

Cassie Askvig paced the Marauders with a game-high 25 points.
