NDSU pitchers shine in softball sweep

DURHAM, N.C.—North Dakota State pitchers KK Leddy and Jacquelyn Sertic each hurled their first shutouts of the season as the Bison defeated Yale and Kent State by identical 3-0 scores during the second day of the Duke University Inaugural Tournament on Saturday.

Leddy, a junior right-hander from Middleburg, Fla., tossed a complete game six-hitter past Yale in the opener.

Sertic, a senior right-hander from Sparks, Nev., fashioned a three-hitter in the second game against Kent State. Sertic struck out 10 to reach double-figure strikeouts for the fourth time this season and 22nd in her career. It was her first shutout this season and 14th in her career.

NDSU improved to 8-5 with the wins.
