North Carolina A&T knocks off No. 6-ranked Jacksonville State to win FCS Kickoff game

MONTGOMERY — Lamar Raynard passed for 111 yards and two touchdowns to lead No. 14-ranked North Carolina A&T to a 20-17 victory against No. 6-ranked Jacksonville State on Saturday in the NCAA Division I FCS Kickoff football game at the Cramton Bowl.

Raynard threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Elijah Bell with 2 minutes, 36 seconds to play in the third quarter for the game-winning score. Raynard also threw a 24-yard touchdown pass to Zachary Leslie in the first quarter.

Zerrick Cooper completed 24 of 38 passes for 320 yards and two touchdowns to lead Jacksonville State. The Gamecocks drove to the A&T 18-yard line in the final 30 seconds of the fourth quarter before the Aggies sacked Cooper and recovered the forced fumble.

North Carolina A&T forced four turnovers.
