Concordia's Hovland wins MIAC hammer throw

NORTHFIELD, Minn.—Concordia Bailey Hovland placed first in the hammer throw (173 feet, 7 inches) at the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships that ended Saturday.

Hovland also placed second in the discuss (133-3) and fourth in the shot put (39-11.25). Kelsey Rajewsky placed sixth in the shot put while Emily Albers placed eighth in the shot put (36-5.75).

Concordia placed eighth out of 12 teams. St. Thomas placed first.

In the men's competition, Concordia's Matt Bye placed second in the decathlon and second in the 110-meter hurdles (15.10).

Concordia's David Supinski placed fifth in the 400 (48.81), Eli Beachy placed fourth in the pole vault (14-9) and Patrick Griffin placed fourth in the javelin (174-2).

The Cobber men placed eighth out of 10 teams. St. Thomas won the men's team title.
