U.S. astronaut Nick Hague and Russian cosmonaut Alexey Ovchinin had made it about halfway to space in Soyuz MS-10 Thursday before suddenly going the other direction. They fell about 31 miles back to the surface, according to NASA. They were immediately located by rescue teams, retrieved from the capsule with no apparent injuries. This artist’s impression shows the temperate planet Ross 128 b, with its red dwarf parent star in the background. The new world is now the second-closest temperate planet to be detected after Proxima b. It is also the closest planet to be discovered orbiting an inactive red dwarf star, which may increase the likelihood that this planet could potentially sustain life. Contributed photo
