Officials at National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) recently announced the names of semifinalists in the 64th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the finalist level of the competition.

FARGO — South Dakota defeated North Dakota State 25-12, 23-25, 21-25, 25-17, 15-9 Friday night in Summit League volleyball at Bentson Bunker, with 1,369 in attendance. McKenzie Burke led the Bison with 11 kills, 15 digs and two assists, while Allie Mauch had 10 kills and two digs. Kalli Hegerle had 36 assists and 19 digs, while Abbi Klos added 23 digs. For the Coyotes, Hayley Dotseth matched her career-high with 23 kills, Taylor Wilson had a career-high 19 kills and Madison Jurgens had a season-high 53 assists.
DULUTH, Minn. — Minnesota State Moorhead pushed No. 9 Minnesota Duluth to four sets, but lost its second conference match of the year in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference volleyball on Friday. The Bulldogs won 25-15, 25-22, 25-27, 25-12. Duluth junior Emily Torve had 53 assists on the night. Junior Hanna Meyer led all players with 21 kills and added four blocks. Moorhead Senior Monica Vega led the Dragons with 24 digs. Sophomore Lauren Kiewiet collected 18 assists, while freshman Amanda Carlson tallied nine kills.
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — Sioux Falls scored a late goal to edge Minnesota State Moorhead 2-1 Friday in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference women's soccer. Jackie Montes scored the winning goal for the Cougars in the 81st minute on an assist from Lindsey Power. Aundria Vargas put Sioux Falls up 1-0 in the 12th minute, assisted by McKayla Philippi. Carly Jo Gamrath scored for the Dragons in the 55th minute on an assist from Jessica Dallman. MSUM goalkeeper Kayleigh Sedlacek recorded five saves. The Dragons fell to 1-5 overall and 1-3 in the NSIC.
