The Moorhead Business Association has hired Sheri Larson as its new executive director. She will be responsible for membership growth, arranging speakers for the MBA's weekly Let's Talk Business meetings, and coordinating MBA events. The MBA also announced the following 2018-2019 board of directors: Randy Farwell, president; Bruce Johnson, vice president; Gwen Hoberg, secretary; Scott Guhlke, treasurer; Cindy Cole-Softing, Mike Edenborg, Corey Elmer, Brady Helmer, Pat Kovash, Mark Lundberg, Pam Seivert and Jim Steen.
FARGO—Carpet World of Fargo will celebrate 50 years in business with customer appreciation days Sept. 28-29 at its showroom, 4601 17th Ave. S. According to a Carpet World press release, the business was Fargo's first carpet retailer when Jerry Kautzman opened the store in the fall of 1968. A decade later, additional flooring lines such as wood, tile and laminate were added.
HAWLEY, Minn.—Owners of a new rural wedding venue will host an open house from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, in conjunction with their annual pumpkin sale. The Barn at Green Garden Farm features a renovated barn and a grainery, which has been converted to a bridal room and restrooms. MOORHEAD — Concordia swept Macalester 25-11, 25-15, 25-15 Thursday in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference volleyball at Memorial Auditorium in front of 301 fans. Brianna Carney led the Cobbers with nine kills, while Kendra Wiggs had eight. Jill Klaphake had four aces and 23 assists. Casey Coste tallied 16 digs and two aces. Concordia rose to 5-10 overall, 1-1 in the MIAC, while Macalester fell to 7-8 overall, 0-2 in the MIAC.
