When has debating become arguing? When has accepting people on their way to hell called loving them? When has apathy become noble? Moreover, when has truth become hate speech? We are truly living in end times. The Bible says through Isaiah the prophet: "Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!" (Isaiah 5:20).
I am appreciative The Forum allows 250 words in an opinion letter, although it is quite a challenge to remove parts that seem less important to get down to that limit. Leaving out the proof or convincing parts of an argument or the references are most unfortunate, but that is the nature of an article with a limit.
I love my president. He has already done more good than Obama ever dreamed of doing. In spite of everything good, the crybabies will not stop lying on the floor kicking and screaming, "He is not my president."
The IRS bullies pastors. It started when two anti-communist, tax-exempt groups opposed Sen. Lyndon Johnson for his 1954 re-election. Johnson fought back with an amendment to a tax bill simply to benefit him. The amendment threatened tax-exempt organizations endorsing political candidates with the loss of their 501(c)(3) status, without hearings to examine its effect on churches.
Most all arguments to the refugee debate have been polarizing with facts on one side and emotions on the other. House Bill 1427 would have allowed for a suspension of refugee resettlement if a community lacked sufficient "absorptive capacity," hardly a question of racism, later amended to a statewide study of refugee resettlement. The proponents testified first, avoiding duplicate testimonies because of time constraints. They were the side seeking facts.
I live only 17 miles from the City of Fargo where I do most of my trade, do I still have freedom of speech? It seems City Commissioner Dave Piepkorn does not because all he is asking for is the bottom line figure of what the refugees are costing the taxpayers of Fargo and the state of North Dakota.
Printing the American Civil Liberties Union of North Dakota's opinion on anything, including the Legislature's House Bill 1425 is not worth the newspaper's space, and the time it takes me to explain, but I will for the hope the few people who still believe in it will wake up. This organization thinks protesters against the Dakota Pipeline can save their "sacred" environment by polluting the land with garbage, burning tires and cars, and killing cattle. Enough said about that.
Lutheran Social Services of North Dakota helps all people in need. God's love guides them with no regard to race, religion, and place of birth or language. Then why do I feel discriminated? I feel left out and ignored. Am I the wrong race or religion? I am a white, Christian, grandmother on Social Security. Maybe the difference is that I migrated from South St Paul and did not need vetting. Nevertheless, I deserve dignity and respect, as my concerns need addressing.
Islam is advancing throughout the United States. Usama Dakdok, native of Egypt and expert on Islam, recently spoke at the Pelican Rapids (Minn.) Library. He has translated the Qur' accurately word for word from Arabic to English. It is curious that reading from the Qur'an sounds like hate speech. Usama does not hate, he simply informs. We do not all worship the same God. Allah does not have a son and all those who believe in the Father, Son and Spirit are infidels. So Christians are infidels. Is telling the truth that Jesus is the only way, hate speech?
