FARGO — A plan to provide affordable housing for single mothers is in full swing after the Jeremiah Program held a groundbreaking celebration here on Tuesday, June 13. The Jeremiah Program, a nonprofit group that aims to help single mothers pursuing college degrees, started construction at its Fargo campus this week. The building will be located at 801 Page Drive on land being leased by Catholic Health Initiatives for $1 per year.
FARGO — It's 5 p.m. at the Islamic Center of Fargo. In four hours, the sun will set, and Hukun Adbullahi's day of fasting for Ramadan will be over. He pulls out his smartphone to transfer money to his uncle in Somalia, ensuring he will be able to buy food when his own fast is over. Like many others in the Fargo-Moorhead Somali community, Adbullahi has a loved one in Somalia, an east African country struggling with a drought that's put millions of lives in danger of starvation.
