FARGO — Cities across the country have begun looking to tiny houses, often between 100 to 400 square feet in size, as a way to help solve the deep-seated problem of homelessness. Fargo hasn't started its own tiny housing program for the homeless, though local officials and advocates say it's a viable option for this area. Tiny houses "can provide a solution not only for those homeless, but also for those on the edge of homelessness," said Cody Schuler, executive director of the Fargo-Moorhead Coalition for Homeless Persons.

FRAZEE, Minn — A 26-year-old man was pronounced dead after his tractor rolled over in Frazee, Minn., a town southeast of Detroit Lakes, Minn. According to a Becker County Sheriff's Office news release, police received a report of a man, later identified as Kyle Kevin Quittschreiber, stuck under a tractor at 31195 County Highway 54 in Frazee. Police found Quittschreiber lying near skid steer tractor rolled over on a hill next to his residence. Quittschreiber was pronounced dead despite lifesaving efforts, police said.
WEST FARGO — A 17-year-male was injured this afternoon, Aug. 24, when his bicycle was hit by a vehicle in West Fargo, according to a West Fargo Police Department news release. A vehicle traveling south along First Street struck the bicyclist at around 2:50 p.m. as he crossed the intersection of First Street and Third Avenue. Vehicles parked along First Street prevented the driver and the 17-year-old from seeing each other, police said.
BUFFALO, N.D. — Police are notifying the public of a sex offender who recently moved here. Lee Allen Topel, who was convicted in Yankton County, S.D., on two counts of possession of child pornography, is now residing at 101 Broadway Ave., Buffalo, N.D, according to the Cass County Sheriff's Office. Topel is 6 feet, 1 inches tall and weighs 185 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes. He is registered as a moderate risk sex offender, the sheriff's office said.
FARGO — The words "Too Beautiful for Earth" are etched in a memorial headstone that stands to mark Savanna LaFontaine-Greywind's final resting place. The headstone was made by Dakota Monument Company with cooperation from her family and was placed in Sunset Memorial Gardens Tuesday, Aug. 21. Dustin Anderson, outside sales representative with Dakota Monument who led the project, said he was out of the state when he heard about the incident and decided that something needed to be done to memorialize LaFontaine-Greywind.

FARGO — Over 60 complaints were lodged against law enforcement officers in the Fargo-Moorhead area in the last two years, and most resulted in discipline that ranged from reprimands to firings, according to documents obtained by The Forum through public records requests. The complaints — some originating from inside police agencies, and some from outside — were wide-ranging. But one type of violation came up again and again: the incorrect administration of medicine to Cass County Jail inmates.
