FARGO -- The late signing period for college football is less than two weeks away and North Dakota State is adding to its 2020 recruiting class.
Rosemount (MN) kicker Nathan Whiting announced on social media Friday afternoon that he has committed to NDSU. Whiting is 5'10, 204 pounds, who connected on six field goals on six attempts this season for the Irish. He also made all 24 extra point attempts this season for a team that made the second round of the Minnesota state tournament.
Whiting is a converted linebacker, who became a full time kicker during his sophomore year at Rosemount. Whiting made 18 of 24 career field goals in high school, which is good for fourth all-time in state history for made field goals. Whiting adding punting to his game this season, punting 32 times with five landing inside the 20 yard line.
Whiting becomes the fourth kicker on the Bison roster for 2020, joining Griffin Crosa, who did a majority of the kicking in 2019, Jake Reinholz, who kicked in the national championship game and Will Cardinal, who kicked in the second round playoff win over Nicholls. Punter Garret Wegner will be a senior for NDSU in 2020.
Rosemount is a popular place for Bison football, that's the same high school that produced Zach Vraa and Dimitri Williams.
