FARGO — Longtime North Dakota State sports broadcaster Scott Miller died five years ago today, Feb. 25 2016, after a long battle with cancer. His loss was mourned not only in Fargo-Moorhead and North Dakota, but across the country because Scott was a friend to so many.
As good as he was at calling games on the radio, he was a better person.
Here is a highlights package I put together when he died, with help from NDSU and local radio stations, that will spark some great memories and make you smile — even as we continue to mourn Scott's premature death at 57.
Take a listen. Bison football winning big games and national championships seems old hat now, but some of Scott's calls early in the run are a reminder just how fresh and exciting the idea of big wins and titles was.
