SAINT LOUIS — The North Dakota State baseball team used three runs-batted-in from second baseman Peter Brookshaw to notch a 7-4 road win over the Saint Louis Billikens.
NDSU jumped out to an early advantage by way of a two-out, first-inning walk from Charley Hesse. Brookshaw doubled the visitors' advantage in the second inning with an RBI single.
The Bison added two more runs in the sixth inning with bases-loaded walks from Brock Anderson and Bennett Hostetler. Saint Louis cracked the scoreboard with a single from Kyle Fitzgerald in the home half of the inning.
After an eighth inning single from Hesse extended the Bison lead to 5-1, Cam Redding countered with a three-run home run to draw the Billikens within one. Brookshaw laced a double down the left-field line in the top of the ninth inning to give the Bison the 7-4 win.
Bison starter Tristen Roehrich scattered just one hit across four-and-one-third innings of work, adding four strikeouts.
NDSU climbed to 3-1 on the young season, while the Billikens fell to 1-4.
The two sides will square of again at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 27 at the Billiken Sports Center.
