FARGO — A five-run eighth inning helped North Dakota State overcome a four-run deficit and defeat Omaha 8-7 in a Summit League game on Saturday at Newman Outdoor Field.
The Bison trailed 7-3 entering the bottom of the eighth, but Jack Simonsen delivered a two-run single, a Peter Brookshaw single and an Omaha throwing error brought in another run, and Tucker Rohde's single to center brought in Simonsen and Brookshaw with the tying and go-ahead runs.
Jake Drew improved to 4-0 with one inning of relief and Parker Harm set Omaha down in order in the ninth to earn his seventh save.
Simonsen had two hits and drove in three runs and Brookshaw, Bennett Hostetler, Charley Hesse, Zach Solano and Will Busch all had two hits. Omaha's Keil Krumwiede had two hits and drove in four runs.
The Bison (17-9 Summit, 32-13 overall) have won three straight against Omaha (10-8 Summit, 18-19) and NDSU's winning streak is five games. The teams wrap a four-game weekend series at 1 p.m. Sunday, May 9.
