RICHMOND, Ky. — Eastern Kentucky scored 10 runs in the fourth inning and defeated North Dakota State 15-3 in seven innings Thursday night at Earle Combs Stadium.
The Bison dropped to 36-16 overall, while Eastern Kentucky improved to 21-30. The two teams play the second game of the three-game series on Friday, with the first pitch at 5 p.m.
Eight different Bison had a hit in the game. Peter Brookshaw, Noah Dehne and Zach Solano each scored a run and Tucker Rohde and Solano each drove in a run.
NDSU struck first, as Rohde doubled to the right-center gap in the first inning to bring in Brookshaw. The Colonels took the lead for good in the third with four runs on three home runs. Solano scored on a passed ball in the top of the fourth before Eastern Kentucky scored 10 runs in the bottom of the inning. In the fifth, Dehne scored on a single by Garret Hill. The Colonels added the final run in the sixth inning.
