FARGO - The point of discussion today in my ballot for the STATS.com Top 25 FCS media poll is about separation: Who should be No. 3, Weber State or South Dakota State? Their resumes are similar.

The Jackrabbits are 7-2 with losses to two unbeaten teams in North Dakota State and Minnesota. The Wildcats are 7-2 with losses, both close, to FBS Nevada and San Diego State. What's better: two FBS losses or a loss to a Big Ten and FCS No. 1 team? I would go with SDSU on this one.

But I'm giving the No. 3 nod to Weber after another win over a nationally-ranked team on Saturday. Not only that, it was on the road at No. 6 Cal State Sacramento, which came in hot. SDSU's best win is Southern Illinois. Weber has wins over Northern Iowa, UC Davis and Sacramento, all of which were ranked at the time the Wildcats played them.

I was on Monmouth last week and that was justified with the Hawks destroying Kennesaw State. The Hawks' only losses are FBS Western Michigan and at Montana with a quality win against CAA Albany. Quick, where is Monmouth? It's a private university in West Long Branch, N.J. There is your FCS education for the week.
