North Dakota State's 2021 football season is quickly approaching and the Bison Media Zone continues a yearly tradition with its summertime preview series.
First up is a game by game preview of the season, which leads off with a brand new opponent for the Bison.
The Albany Great Danes out of the Colonial Athletic Association will come to Gate City Bank Field at the Fargodome on September 4th to open the year. This is a one game agreement, which NDSU announced in October of 2019. The Great Danes will receive $250,000 for the game and will mark the sixth CAA team to come to Fargo. Maine will be the seventh in 2023.
Albany is coming off a shortened spring season where they played four games, posting a 1-3 record. Their final two games were canceled in early April after a rash of injuries to the team, including standout quarterback Jeff Undercuffler. Albany missed out against ranked opponents Delaware and Villanova.
The Great Danes have a tough 2021 schedule in front of them, after NDSU they have an FBS game with Syracuse out of the ACC and then conference games at Delaware and Towson. Albany does not play league power James Madison during the regular season.
