FARGO — North Dakota State scored six touchdowns that covered at least 20 yards in the first half Saturday afternoon at Gate City Bank at the Fargodome. That 43-point half sparked 64-0 victory against Valparaiso in nonconference NCAA Division FCS I play before 15,118 fans.
NDSU had 387 yards on 23 plays in the opening half with scoring plays of 45, 28, 20, 65, 72 and 52 yards. That was good for an average of 47 yards per TD before halftime.
Bison quarterback Quincy Patterson completed 4 of 5 passes for 102 yards and a touchdown. Patterson also rushed for 94 yards and a score on four attempts. Making his second start for the Bison, Patterson didn't play in the second half.
