North Dakota State's future conference opponents are starting to come into focus. In 2020, the University of North Dakota will join the Missouri Valley Football Conference which will affect how the conference will schedule opponents. The league will remain with eight conference games, but now with eleven members, that means two teams will drop off NDSU and UND's schedules.
Beginning in 2020, NDSU will play UND, South Dakota State and the University of South Dakota every year. Sources tell WDAY's Dom Izzo that NDSU will play Youngstown State every year. Western Illinois will rotate out of the Bison schedule in 2020 and 2021, meaning Southern Illinois, Missouri State, Illinois State or Northern Iowa will also be off the schedule as well. NDSU does not play Indiana State in 2018 or 2019.
