FARGO — The North Dakota State women's basketball program signed high school player Ryan Cobbins and added transfer Heaven Hamling, head coach Jory Collins announced Friday.
Hamling played her freshman season at Stephen F. Austin (Texas) after a standout high school career at Grand Rapids, Minn. She was a finalist for Minnesota Miss Basketball her senior year and averaged 19.5 points in her prep career.
The 5-foot-8 Hamling played in 32 games last year for the Lumberjacks averaging 5.4 points and 16.3 minutes per game. She finished sixth in 3-point field goal percentage in the Southland Conference.
Cobbins, from Piper High School (Kan.), was a four-time Kansas Class 4A all-state selection scoring 1,243 points and grabbing 464 rebounds in her career. Piper had an 88-7 record in her four years including 23-1 last year.
