FARGO — Alicia Nead gave North Dakota State a 2-1 win over North Dakota with a goal in the 90th minute on Homecoming and Senior Day on Sunday at Dacotah Field.
NDSU's Olivia Lovick took possession of the ball on a clear in the defensive half and spun past a defender to start a counter attack for North Dakota State. Lovick ran with the ball and Nead joined the attack, making it a 2-on-1 break toward the Fighting Hawks' goal. Lovick passed the ball to Nead at the top of the penalty area and she chipped a shot over Hawks' goalkeeper Madi Livingston with 38 seconds left
It was a long stretch between goals for NDSU. The Bison's Brookelyn Dew scored in the game's second minute on assists from Jess Hanley and Loretta Wacek.
The Bison won for a second time in three matches after starting the season 0-6-1 and are 2-1 in the Summit League. They play at South Dakota State at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 15. North Dakota fell to 3-7-1 overall and 1-2 in the Summit. The Hawks play at South Dakota at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15.
