FARGO — The North Dakota State volleyball needed five long sets but finally staved off Oral Roberts in the opening match of a two-match series on Sunday.

The Bison won 25-15, 18-25, 26-24, 31-33 and 15-8.

NDSU's Ali Hinze took advantage of the extra points to rack up 24 kills and a .321 hitting percentage in 56 attempts. She also had 13 digs and three blocks. Alexis Bachmeier had 11 kills hitting .300 and she had 19 digs. Syra Tanchin had 10 kills and Kelley Johnson had 56 set assists.

Oral Roberts' Aixa Vigil had 17 kills, hitting .372 with just one error in 43 attacks. Bryanne Soares had 43 set assists and 11 digs.
