WEST FARGO - Paul Davis Restoration & Remodeling of the Red River Valley is going out of business, local franchise owner Gary Bloom said Tuesday, May 14.

Bloom, sitting in the quiet offices at 355 7th St. N.W., said he was informed a few months ago that the business had not been in compliance with a couple of mandatory operating requirements and the franchise agreement was being terminated.

“That, and I’m ready to move on myself. We’re gonna’ finish up the jobs we have,” Bloom said. “We’re not going to leave anyone hanging out there. Finish up what we’ve got. Sell the building, sell the equipment, and move on.”

The business normally employed eight to 10 people, with additional hires as needed, he said.

Bloom estimated the company’s final three or four jobs will be completed by the end of May. The firm has not taken on any new customers.

The last day for office staff was Monday, May 13, he said.

“We all parted on good terms,” Bloom said.

He’s made peace with what has happened.

“It’s not doing me any good to be bitter,” Bloom said. “My health is more important than a business. …. It’s done. I’ve made it in my mind that it’s done. Move on. Get through it and move on.”

Bloom said he has no ties to Paul Davis Restoration & Remodeling of the Lakes Area, located in Detroit Lakes, Minn.

The corporation has more than 300 offices in the U.S. and Canada.

The company has been in business locally for 24 years, Bloom said. The Moorhead man has owned the business for eight and a half years.

He said he’s grateful to the community for its support.

“Thanks for the past years of business,” Bloom said.
