MOORHEAD - A business that has been a fixture in Moorhead for decades is closing at the end of the month.
Marguerite's Music was founded in Jamestown, N.D., in 1961 by Marguerite Mowry.
The shop moved to Moorhead in 1975.
Mowry died in 2010 at age 86, but the business stayed in the family's hands.
A note recently posted on the company's Facebook page states: "After over 54 years in business, Marguerite's Music Inc. in Moorhead is officially closing at the end of June.
"Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, we are making this announcement. From our hearts, we want to thank everyone for all the great years and memories," the note said.
Mowry's grandson, Steve Mowry, said the family appreciates customers' business over the years.
The shop, at 3100 8th St. S., is holding a sale, with an extra 20 percent off everything in the store.
